The company Lakland Musical Instruments was founded in 1994 and grew out of a fairly successful business with used basses that the company founders Dan Lakin and Hugh McFarland had been running up until then. From the beginning, Lakland worked closely with Bartolini and thus found its way to the NAMM show. And although Lakland basses are high-end instruments of excellent quality, it was still a long, thorny road until you could find names like Donald "Duck" Dunn, Adam Clayton, Mike Gordon, Geezer Butler, Pino Palladino or Darryl Jones on the now extremely long Lakland user list.
Lakland is also extremely popular with relatively younger bands like Incubus, The Subways, Papa Roach and also in the electronic area like the trip-hop icon and Massive Attack guest Tricky due to its first-class workmanship and rather tight, modern sound!
Since the introduction of Lakland's flagship models in the mid-1990s, these basses have become the most respected instruments in the studio and on stage, now favored by discerning players and professional artists around the world. The official Geezer Butler Signature Skyline Series 4-string bass with a P&J array of Geezer Butler Signature EMG pickups. It features a 1.5" (J) neck taper with custom cross inlay marking at the 5th fret. Unique to this model is the rosewood fingerboard, gold anodized aluminum pickguard and gold hardware. The black headstock features Geezer Butler's signature!
