The company Lakland Musical Instruments was founded in 1994 and emerged from a very successful trade in used basses, which the company founders Dan Lakin and Hugh McFarland had operated up to then. From the beginning, Lakland worked closely with Bartolini and thus found the way to the NAMM show. And although Lakland basses are high-end instruments of excellent quality, it was still a long, thorny way to get on the now long Lakland user list under other names such as Donald "Duck" Dunn, Adam Clayton, Mike Gordon, Geezer Butler , Pino Palladino or Darryl Jones.
Even with comparatively younger bands such as Incubus, The Subways, Papa Roach and also in the electro sector such as the trip-hop icon and Massive Attack guest Tricky, Lakland enjoys great popularity due to the first-class workmanship and the rather tight, modern sound! Since the introduction of Lakland's flagship models in the mid-1990s, these basses have become the most respected instruments in the studio and on stage, now preferred by discerning players and professional artists around the world. The vintage comfort and contemporary sophistication of the Skyline models are characterized by excellent sound, playability and construction and offer an incomparable gaming experience!
