Ampeg is an American manufacturer of amplifiers for electric bass and acoustic bass instruments. The company was founded in 1946 in Linden, New Jersey by Everitt Hull and Stanley Michaels as "Michaels-Hull Electronic Labs". The company specialized in the pickup, amplification and sound conversion of bass instruments and went public in 1963 as The Ampeg Company, Inc. Today Ampeg belongs to the Yamaha Corporation!
