Ashdown is known for its amplifiers and effects pedals, which it produces primarily for basses but also for guitars. The British manufacturer is located in Chelmsford, Essex, England. Ashdown was founded in 1997 by Mark Gooday, chief engineer and manager of Trace Elliot, who designed the logo after the motor badge of the Auston-Heale sports car brand. Ashdown's unwavering focus on design and innovation is clearly evident in its product range: tube and hybrid amplifiers, combos, practice amps, effects pedals, and more!
Ashdown Engineering remains true to its roots, just as it was in 1997!
The signature effects pedals are designed and manufactured in the UK for international artists and benefit from all the know-how and experience Ashdown has accumulated over the past 25 years.
Ashdown Engineering, a globally recognized manufacturer of bass and guitar amplifiers, introduces the Double Drive John Myung Signature Pedal, a revolutionary bass overdrive pedal. The pedal was developed in collaboration with John Myung, legendary bassist of Dream Theater, during the recording of their album "A View from the Top of the World." A longtime user of Ashdown's ABM-600 amplifiers, John wanted to further refine his distinctive tone and turned to Ashdown. The result is a carefully crafted signature pedal worthy of a virtuoso like John Myung.
The pedal features two distinct distortion channels, each carefully tuned to match John's signature Music Man bongo basses and their distinctive 6-string sound. The Double Drive pedal offers a harmonious blend of harmonic distortion (Drive 1) and precise bass presence control (Drive 2). John himself praises the pedal's versatility, both in the studio and for live performances.
Designed for professional use, the pedal features a robust 1.6 mm Zintec construction and a 0.9 mm alloy shell. Additionally, two VU meters provide real-time monitoring of the input and output signals, ensuring precise gain control regardless of the input source.
