The COR-TEC company has been one of the largest and most renowned guitar manufacturers in the world for over 40 years and, with CORT, offers its own brand of excellently crafted guitars with an excellent sound at a very user-friendly price. The attractive, wide range of western, classical, electric and bass guitars and amplifiers is - in addition to the advantages mentioned - also very popular with musicians around the world because of the extremely robust and durable construction!
The Artisan Space 5 Bass is not just a modern instrument in headless design, it is the reinterpretation of the legacy of a real pioneering work: In the 1980s, Cort introduced the bass world with the Space line, which was known for its innovative headless design and the mechanics licensed by Steinberger became known, rocked! Now this revolutionary spirit returns in Space 5, precisely developed for the growing demand for compact headless instruments. The traditional body has been replaced with a slim, ergonomic and comfortable to play design. This meant that weight could be saved and the balance of the instrument could be improved for more freedom when playing. Despite its modern appearance, the Space 5 has classic bass roots.
Maple body with poplar burl top (6mm)
The combination of a poplar burl top and a soft maple body ensures an excellent balance between tight, full-sounding bass and clear, transparent highs. Added to this is the extravagant wood grain of the poplar burl top, which gives the instrument an organic aesthetic.
New space body design
Space 5 is the modern reinterpretation of the Cort Space basses of the 80s. Its roots clearly lie in the popular Artisan Bass series, whose body and neck design was adopted, but with special features. Designed for comfort and boldness, the Space 5 features deeper contours and extravagant cutaways while embodying the emancipated spirit of headless design. Individual bridge saddles and integrated mechanics complete the transformation and make the Space 5 a reborn, timeless icon.
Bartolini MK-1 pickups with active 3-band EQ preamp
The Bartolini MK-1 pickups deliver the typical Bartolini sound and offer excellent sound and the best price-performance ratio. The MK-1 is known for its balanced sound with lots of powerful, warm mids as well as transparent and brilliant highs. In conjunction with the active 3-band EQ preamp, the sound can be precisely and finely tuned in highs, mids and bass.
Specially designed hardware for headless systems
The headjoint and a bridge with individual string riders have been carefully developed and thoroughly tested to ensure maximum tuning stability and, on the other hand, to make the Space 5 as light and compact as possible.
Zero fret
The zero fret performs the role of the nut by setting the string height above the fretboard when played open. The saddle is still used as a guide to adjust the spacing of the strings before they run to the tuners. Since the nut is not responsible for the open tones of the strings, players can now use any gauge of string without having to worry about the nut notches or even replacing the nut. They are also free of unwanted friction between the saddle and the strings.
7-piece neck made from roasted maple, walnut, amarath & maple
Roasted maple, known for its focused midrange, enhanced by the powerful clarity of amaranth and the rich warmth of walnut make up the Space5's neck. This carefully thought-out combination supports the clear and vibration-friendly properties of the maple body and ensures excellent clarity and transparency even in the low frequencies. The Space5 has an articulate and full sound that is always very precise and defined and is clear evidence of the excellent construction of the instrument.
Neck adjustment screw on the top
The neck curvature can be adjusted very easily and comfortably using the neck adjustment screw in the body.
