Several years ago, Markbass' top artist Michael League of Snarky Puppy collaborated with Marco De Virgiliis and the Markbass team to develop the Markbass CASA, an amplifier with a classic sound and compelling tonal integrity.
This next evolutionary step—the LITTLE MARK 58R CASA—offers cool vintage and modern sound options in a smaller, ultra-lightweight, and high-quality chassis, making it the perfect companion. And like the other amplifiers in this series, the new design of the LITTLE MARK 58R CASA places all connections and controls on the front panel, leaving only the speaker output and AC power jack on the rear, providing optimal ergonomics and greater accessibility.
This collaboration is a great way to explore the next stage of the evolution—the LITTLE MARK 58R CASA. "Marco and I wanted to develop an amplifier that makes things simple, one that feels right at home, with old-fashioned versatility that suits virtually any genre of music. The great amplifiers of the past all shared the same qualities: rich, deep bass, warm, punchy mids, and the ability to produce a great sound right out of the box. The Casa has all of that built right in!" (Michael League)
The LITTLE MARK 58R CASA's solid-state preamp delivers a warm and natural sound that faithfully reproduces the instrument's tone. The basic BASS and TREBLE tone controls offer excellent, quick, and easy access! Combined with the effective 5-band EQ, a wide tonal range can be achieved across the frequency spectrum from ULTRA LOW to HIGH. Michael himself conducted a listening test in which four professionals from different fields (two sound engineers and two musicians) had to blindly evaluate the sound of five different amp heads with over a dozen different basses. In almost every single round, the CASA was unanimously chosen as the favorite sound for each instrument, alongside the classic amplifiers.
Many other bass amplifiers on the market use power amps that are not specifically designed for bass. At Markbass, Marco De Virgiliis invested heavily in research and development to create proprietary power amp technology in-house. The MPT Power Amplifier was completely redesigned to preserve the instrument's natural tone and simply amplify it.
With the new amp head design, all connections and controls are located on the front panel. Only the speaker outputs and the AC power jack remain on the back, providing optimal ergonomics and making everything more accessible, especially when the amp head is kept in a bag or case during a gig.
