Daniel Kushner founded the company MONO in 2006. As a drummer and professional industrial designer, he combined his love of music with the vision of creating innovative products for the modern musician. Growing up in the suburbs of Pennsylvania, Kushner played in various funk, hip hop, and rock bands while studying design at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design. There he received the Student Merit Award from the Industrial Designer Society of America (IDSA) for his thesis on recyclable furniture made from waste paper. In 2002, Daniel Kushner moved to San Francisco to work for the international design firm IDEO. As a senior designer, he worked for companies such as Microsoft, Samsung, Hewlett Packard, Proctor & Gamble, and Bank of America. During his time at IDEO, he received several awards for his design work, which is still used in products by many users every day. In 2006, Daniel Kushner realized his vision of founding his own company. After a year of designing countless prototypes for the first product line, he launched the Mono company with the M80 series, which quickly became known for its innovative design of hybrid cases/bags for guitars and percussion instruments. The official launch at the Winter NAMM Show in 2007 was an immediate success and immediately put MONO on the radar of musicians internationally.
