Roger Sadowsky is one of the most respected instrument makers in the world. He gained early recognition for outstanding repair and restoration work on guitars and basses. In the early 1980s, the heated vintage market was increasingly pushing guitars and basses out of the reach of working musicians. In response, Roger realized it made sense to build instruments from scratch that incorporated all the improvements he had developed over the years. Additionally, his background in acoustic guitar building helped him build lightweight, acoustically resonant instruments.
Today, Roger leads an experienced team dedicated to improving building techniques and finding innovative materials to build the best instruments for his customers. After many decades of building some of the world's most sought-after instruments, Roger continues to find the greatest joy in seeing how satisfied a customer is when playing a Sadowsky instrument.
In order to make his instruments accessible to more people, the New Yorker decided to have the MetroExpress instruments built in Japan in cooperation with a Japanese manufacturer. But change can be good, which is why Roger is already moving on to new shores in 2020. From now on, only Masterbuilt instruments will be built in small quantities in the workshop in Long Island. So that the rest of the world does not have to miss out on the enjoyment of a real Sadowsky bass, Hans-Peter Wilfer and Roger have joined forces and are now producing in Markneunkirchen near Warwick.
