Roger Sadowsky is one of the world's most respected instrument makers. He gained early recognition for his outstanding repair and restoration work on guitars and basses. In the early 1980s, the overheated vintage market increasingly pushed guitars and basses out of reach of working musicians. In response, Roger realized the value of building instruments from scratch, incorporating all the improvements he had developed over the years. His background in acoustic guitar building also helped him create lightweight, acoustically resonant instruments.
Today, Roger leads an experienced team dedicated to refining construction techniques and seeking innovative materials to build the finest instruments for his customers. After many decades of crafting some of the world's most sought-after instruments, Roger's greatest joy remains seeing the satisfaction of a customer playing a Sadowsky instrument.
To make his instruments more accessible to a wider audience, the New Yorker, in cooperation with a Japanese manufacturer, decided to have the MetroExpress instruments built in Japan. However, change can be beneficial, which is why Roger is already embarking on a new chapter in 2020. From now on, only Masterbuilt instruments will be produced in small batches at the Long Island workshop. So that the rest of the world doesn't have to miss out on the pleasure of a genuine Sadowsky bass, Hans-Peter Wilfer and Roger have joined forces and are now producing in Markneunkirchen near Warwick.
The Sadowsky SBP-1 Bass Preamp offers bassists the same electronics that have been built into every Sadowsky bass for over 30 years. With its flexible combination of preamp and DI box, the pedal can be used in an effects setup before the amplifier or connected to a mixing console or PA system. The controls are intentionally simple: Volume, Treble, and Bass. Treble and Bass function exclusively as boosts. The SBP-1 Bass Preamp is ideal for enhancing vintage instruments where you don't want to modify the original electronics. The best results are achieved with passive basses or circuits with active pickups, where you can bypass the active electronics.
