Nathan East is featured on numerous albums and has toured with some of the biggest names in modern music. Whether playing blues with Eric Clapton, pop with Phil Collins, or contemporary jazz with Fourplay, Nathan relies on his 5-string signature bass, the BBNE2, to create his desired sound. Nathan East has contributed to over two thousand recordings, including Eric Clapton's legendary "Unplugged" album. He has performed for, among others, Pope John Paul II, Queen Elizabeth II, Nelson Mandela, and at President Barack Obama's inauguration concert. The U.S. Congress honored him with a medal for his artistic achievements and his contribution to the global music scene. Yamaha presented him with a Lifetime Achievement Award for over 30 years of musical excellence at the company,
including the development of his own signature bass, the BBNE2.
I.R.A. Technology: Every bass benefits from "play-in," a process in which the instrument matures and opens up as tensions between the wood and finish, neck and fretboard, and body and hardware are released, resulting in improved tone and playability. Yamaha's exclusive Initial Response Acceleration (I.R.A.) process releases these tensions by applying specific vibrations to the finished instrument during the manufacturing process, resulting in a "played-in" bass from day one.
